Fibreglass pools in Canberra and the ACT
Canberra is a long drive from the factory near Taree, and we still deliver here. You or your builder install the pool. We supply the lot: the Australian-made shell, the equipment, the engineering and the truck that brings it to your street.
Freight is a real line on a Canberra quote
Every shell leaves a factory on the Mid North Coast, so the run to the ACT is one of the longer ones we do. We price it on the actual road distance to your address, not a postcode band, and it goes into one delivered number. Expect it to be a bigger share of the total here than on the coast.
Gungahlin, Belconnen, Tuggeranong, Weston Creek, Woden, the Molonglo Valley and Queanbeyan just over the border are all on the same run. Tell us the suburb and the model and you can get a delivered price for Canberra without a sales call.
Approvals in the ACT
The ACT runs its own planning system through the ACT Government, with ACT Planning and Access Canberra as the places to look. Many backyard pools do not need a development application if they meet the exemption rules, but they still need building approval from a licensed ACT building certifier. Your certifier confirms which path your block takes. In the ACT the pool work itself is done by a licensed builder, or by you under an owner-builder licence, so sort that out early.
The paperwork travels well. The ACT accepts the NSW Certificate of Compliance that comes with every shell, alongside the drawing and the installation details. That engineering pack is free, so your certifier can approve it before you pay anything.
Canberra blocks
Newer suburbs in Gungahlin and Molonglo
Lots in the newer estates are often compact, with the house close to both side boundaries. If the gap is about 1.5 m clear, the shell can be carried down the side on its edge. Tighter than that, it comes over the house by crane. The excavator needs about 2.5 m to get in, or 900 mm at a pinch with a small machine.
Established suburbs
In Belconnen, Weston Creek and Tuggeranong the blocks are usually bigger, with mature trees and often a slope. Clay is common and some blocks strike rock. Get your excavator to look before you book the truck.
Cold winters
Without heating, a Canberra swimming season is short. The Comfort package adds a heat pump and a blanket.
Timing and the deposit
Lead time is about seven weeks heading into summer and around six in the cooler months. A $5,000 deposit locks in your shell and is non-refundable once paid, which is why you get the engineering pack first. If we cannot supply the pool, the deposit comes back in full.
Our free Block Report checks fit, access and the approval path, and the common buying mistakes guide is worth ten minutes before you sign. There are eight shapes in 28 sizes, all twelve colours at the same price, and the supply only page explains how it works. Coming up the Hume, the Western Sydney page covers Camden and Penrith.
Common questions
Does the ACT accept the NSW Certificate of Compliance?
Yes. The ACT accepts the NSW certificate, and it comes in the engineering pack with every shell along with the shell drawing and the installation details. Your ACT building certifier will want all three.
Is freight to Canberra expensive?
It is one of our longer runs, so freight is a bigger part of the delivered price than on the coast. We price it on the real road distance to your address and include it in one number, so there are no surprises on delivery day.
Can I get approval before I pay the deposit?
Yes. The engineering pack is free, so approval can come first. The $5,000 deposit is non-refundable once paid, and refunded in full if we cannot supply the pool.
Do you deliver to Queanbeyan?
Yes. Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong are on the same run as Canberra. They are in New South Wales, so approval goes through Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council or a private certifier.
Building in Canberra or Queanbeyan?
Send the suburb and the shape you like. We come back with one number that already includes the long run down from the factory. No mailing list, no drip emails.
