The Gold Coast is one of the strongest pool markets in the country, and it is also one of the most heavily franchised. Almost every shell sold here goes through a showroom that holds a territory, and that territory margin is on top of the shell before anyone has dug a hole. Buying direct removes it.

Delivery to the Gold Coast

Every shell leaves our factory on the NSW mid-north coast. Freight is worked out on your actual address and built into the quoted price, never added at the end.

The Gold Coast is closer to us than Brisbane, and the delivery cost is comfortably less than the franchise margin sitting on the same shell in a showroom. That is why buying direct still works at this distance. Ask and we will give you the delivered number.

Going further north it stops working. Past Townsville, freight starts to bite. Ask and we will tell you straight. The Gold Coast, Tweed, Byron, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast are all well within range.

Gold Coast blocks, and what actually fits

Canal and waterfront

Paradise Waters, Sorrento, Mermaid Waters, Runaway Bay. Flat, but the constraints are real: a revetment wall you cannot load near, tight setbacks, and often no street frontage wide enough for a crane to set up. On a canal block the crane position is usually the first thing to work out, not the last.

The hinterland and acreage

Mudgeeraba, Tallai, Currumbin Valley. Steep, sometimes rock, and access is the whole conversation. The upside is space, so once the shell is in there is room for proper surrounds.

Newer estates

Coomera, Pimpama, Ormeau. Flat, good side access, and the block is often wider than it is deep. The least complicated install on the coast, and where the wider shapes like the Cosmo and Belmont come into their own.

Sand, and why it matters here

Much of the coastal strip is sand rather than clay or rock. That is good news for excavation, which is quicker and cheaper than a Sydney sandstone dig, but it changes two things.

• Batter and shoring. Sand will not hold a vertical face. The hole has to be dug wider, which means more spoil to cart away.
• The water table. Close to the canals or the beach you can hit water well before you reach depth, and then you are dewatering. Worth asking neighbours what they struck.

A fibreglass shell handles these conditions better than concrete because it is a single engineered piece that goes in and gets backfilled the same day, rather than a structure cured in the ground. Our honest comparison covers where each one actually wins.

Crane access, and how to check yours

Reach decides the cost, not weight. Two things make that a Gold Coast question more often than elsewhere.

• Canal blocks. There is frequently no room to set up at the rear, so the lift comes from the street with a longer reach and a bigger machine.
• Energex clearances around street powerlines can turn a simple lift into a traffic management job. Look up at the street before you assume anything.

Queensland compliance, and what we hand you

Every shell comes engineered and certified for Queensland conditions, with the Form 15 engineering certification in the pack.

What you or your builder still handle:

• Building approval through a private certifier or council
• A compliant pool barrier and the pool safety certificate
• Registering the pool on the Queensland pool safety register
• The install, being excavation, crane, plumbing, electrical and backfill

Queensland enforces the barrier rules seriously. The safety certificate is required before the pool can be used, and again whenever the property is sold or leased, so it is not a step to leave to the end.

You probably do not need heating

In Sydney a pool without heating is a four month pool, which is why most southern jobs add a heat pump. The Gold Coast is a different climate and plenty of pools here run comfortably from September through to May with nothing at all.

A heat pump is still worth having if you want it genuinely year round, or if the pool is shaded. But it is a preference here rather than the thing that makes the pool usable, so Essentials is often all you need, and Comfort is there if you want the extra months.

Short version for a straightforward seven metre pool with reasonable access: expect $30,000 to $60,000 for the works, on top of the shell and equipment. Canal access, dewatering or high-end surrounds push it higher. We price the shell for your actual address rather than quoting a range.

Common questions about pools on the Gold Coast

Is it cheaper to buy from a Gold Coast supplier?

On freight alone, yes, because they are local. On the total, usually not, because buying direct removes a franchise margin that is generally larger than the freight. Get both delivered numbers and compare them properly.

Do you deliver to the Tweed and Byron?

Yes, and both are closer to us than the Gold Coast, so they deliver for less.

Do I need a heat pump here?

Usually not. The climate gives you most of the year. Worth it if you want to swim through winter or the pool is shaded.

What about the water table on a canal block?

It is a real consideration and it is why we ask about it early. It affects excavation method and can add dewatering. Ask neighbours what they struck, and get it into the quote rather than discovering it on the day.

Can my own builder install it?

Yes, and most of our Queensland work goes that way. We supply the shell, equipment and engineering, your builder does the rest.
