Fibreglass pools in Port Stephens
From the bay suburbs on the Tomaree Peninsula to the treed blocks at Medowie, a Port Stephens pool arrives as one kit on one truck. You or your builder put it in, and we stay on the phone while you do.
Sand, mostly
Most of the peninsula, from Nelson Bay and Salamander Bay out to Anna Bay and Fingal Bay, sits on sand. It is quick to dig, but it slumps rather than standing as a wall. The usual answer is to open the hole close to delivery day so the shell goes in before the sides start to move. A local excavator will know the drill.
On low ground behind the dunes and around the creeks, groundwater can sit close to the surface, and parts of the area are mapped for acid sulfate soils. A fibreglass shell can float if it is emptied with water around it, so the install details include hydrostatic relief and the pool stays full. Port Stephens Council's maps show whether your block is flagged.
Raymond Terrace and Medowie
Raymond Terrace sits where the Williams River meets the Hunter, and some streets carry a flood planning level. Medowie is a different story: bigger, treed blocks, often on bushfire prone land, and parts of Port Stephens are mapped as koala habitat. If the spot you want means a tree has to come out, talk to council before you plan around it.
Holiday homes and salt air
Plenty of pools here go in at a holiday house or a rental. If you live elsewhere, someone still has to be on site on delivery day to show the driver where the shell goes. We confirm the date well ahead so you can plan the trip. Lead time is about seven weeks into summer and around six in the off season.
Salt air is hard on exposed metal. Put the pump and filter somewhere sheltered and easy to hose down.
Getting the shell in
The shell comes off the truck at the front, over the fence, or over the house by crane. About 1.5 m of clear side access lets it go down the side on its edge. The excavator wants about 2.5 m, or 900 mm at a pinch. Our free Block Report checks fit, access and your approval path before you spend anything.
Paperwork and payment
Most pools in Port Stephens go through as complying development with a private certifier, or a development application to Port Stephens Council where the block needs one. The NSW Certificate of Compliance, the shell drawing and the install details are in the engineering pack. We send that pack free so you can get approval before the $5,000 deposit. That deposit is non-refundable once paid, unless we cannot supply the pool, in which case it comes back in full.
Eight shapes, 28 sizes, twelve colours, and every colour costs the same. Get a delivered price for Port Stephens, read how supply only works, or skim the buying mistakes guide first. Over the river, the Newcastle page covers the city side.

Common questions
Is sand a problem for a fibreglass pool?
No. Sand digs easily, it just will not hold a vertical face for long. The hole is opened close to delivery day so the shell goes in before the sides slump.
I own a holiday house in Nelson Bay. Can you deliver when I am not there?
Someone needs to be on site to meet the truck and show where the shell goes. That can be you, your builder or your excavator. We lock in the date early so you can plan around it.
Do you deliver to Medowie and Raymond Terrace?
Yes, and to Lemon Tree Passage, Soldiers Point, Corlette, Anna Bay and the rest of Port Stephens. Freight is worked out on the real road distance to your address.
Putting a pool in at the Bay?
Tell us the suburb and the pool you are after. We send back one delivered figure, freight in. Nobody rings you every week after.
