The Sunshine Coast is a heavily franchised pool market. Most shells sold here go through a showroom holding a territory, and that margin sits on the pool before anyone has dug a hole. Buying direct removes it, and at this distance the freight does not eat the saving.

Delivery to the Sunshine Coast

Every shell leaves our factory on the NSW mid-north coast. Freight is worked out on your actual address and built into the quoted price, never added at the end.

The Coast carries a little more than Brisbane, and still comfortably less than the franchise margin sitting on the same shell in a showroom. That is why buying direct works at this distance. Ask and we will give you the delivered number.

It does not hold forever going north. Past Townsville, freight starts to bite. Ask and we will tell you straight. The Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Tweed are all well within range.

Sand and the water table

The coastal strip is largely sand. Excavation is quick and cheap compared with a rocky southern block, but two things change.

• Batter and shoring. Sand will not hold a vertical face, so the hole is dug wider and there is more spoil to cart away.
• The water table. Close to the canals, the river and the beach at Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and Noosaville, you can strike water before you reach depth. That means dewatering, which is a cost rather than a blocker.

Sunshine Coast block types

Coastal and canal

Mooloolaba, Minyama, Noosaville, Pelican Waters. Flat, but often with a revetment wall you cannot load near and no street frontage wide enough for an easy crane setup. On a canal block the crane position is the first thing to work out, not the last.

The hinterland

Maleny, Montville, Buderim. Steep, sometimes rock, and access is the whole conversation. The upside is space once the shell is in.

Newer estates

Sippy Downs, Palmview, Aura at Caloundra. Flat, good side access, and often wider than deep. The least complicated install on the Coast, and where the wider shapes like the Cosmo and Belmont come into their own.

Crane access

Reach decides the cost, not weight, which is why the estate you are in matters more than the pool you pick. The flat newer estates above are the straightforward ones; the older and higher blocks are where the crane has to work.

Queensland compliance

Every shell comes engineered and certified for Queensland conditions, with the Form 15 engineering certification in the pack.

You or your builder handle building approval through a private certifier or council, a compliant pool barrier and the pool safety certificate, registration on the Queensland pool safety register, and the install itself.

Queensland enforces the barrier rules seriously. The safety certificate is required before the pool can be used, and again whenever the property is sold or leased, so it is not a step to leave to the end. That matters more here than most places given how much of the Coast is holiday letting.

You probably do not need heating

In Sydney a pool without heating is a four month pool, which is why most southern jobs add a heat pump. The Sunshine Coast is a different climate and plenty of pools here run comfortably from September through to May with nothing at all.

A heat pump is still worth having if you want it genuinely year round, or if the pool is shaded, or if it is a holiday let where winter bookings matter. But it is a preference here rather than the thing that makes the pool usable, so Essentials is often all you need, and Comfort is there if you want the extra months.

What a Sunshine Coast pool costs

The shell is one line of a bigger number. Our cost guide breaks down every trade with sourced 2026 rates, including what a builder’s margin actually is and why it is fair.

For a straightforward seven metre pool with reasonable access, expect $30,000 to $60,000 for the works on top of the shell and equipment. Canal access, dewatering or high-end surrounds push it higher. We price the shell for your actual address rather than quoting a range.

Common questions

Is it cheaper to buy from a local Sunshine Coast supplier?

On the freight line alone, yes. On the delivered total, usually not, and the reason is structure rather than distance: a franchise or showroom carries a margin on the shell that is normally bigger than the freight bill from the mid-north coast. The only way to know is to put the two delivered numbers side by side, with the same equipment package in both, because a cheaper shell with a thinner package is not a cheaper pool.

Do I need a heat pump here?

Usually not. The climate gives you most of the year. Worth it for a holiday let where you want winter bookings.

What about the water table near the canals?

It is a real consideration and why we ask early. It affects the excavation method and can add dewatering. Ask neighbours what they struck and get it into the quote.

Can my own builder install it?

Yes, and most of our Queensland work goes that way. We supply the shell, equipment and engineering, your builder does the rest.
